In the movie industry recently people have been in a frenzy about fairy tales. They are everywhere we look. The worlds favorite fairy tales have been taking the big screen by a storm. From Hansel and Gretel to Jack and the Beanstalk to Red Riding Hood to Tangle- a Rapunzel based movie and most recently The Wizard Of Oz. Movie producers have been taking some of the oldest most loved stories of all time and recreated them. TV programmes have been made about them for example Once Upon A Time and Beauty And The Beast on Watch. And there are reasons for that.
There are thousands of reasons why people love fairy tales but I'm going to explain to you why I think fairy tales are so important. Fairy tales are timeless; written hundreds of years ago, they are still current and throughout people's lifetimes hold a place dear in their hearts. No matter what new books are on your shelves there will always be that one fairy tale you love. Whatever's current in the world of books, commonly leads back to a fairy tale. Once I read the first Twilight book, I found myself comparing it to my favorite classic fairy tale Beauty and The beast. The two stories have major differences but they both hold the theme of the 'beast' not feeling worthy of love because of who they are. But most importantly fairy tales are ageless. There is no age limit to who can read and enjoy the thrilling tales. Another thing why fairy tales are so loved is because they hold very important meaning behind each tale. “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” (Neil Gaiman, Coraline) Fairy tales can teach people major life lessons that cannot be properly taught anywhere else. For example this is shown a countless amount of time in Beauty and the Beast. There is the great lesson of 'Beauty and the Beast,' that a thing must be loved before it is lovable. What i learned from this tale was, no one can be who you want them to be. Belle probably wasn't expecting to fall in love with a monster but because of love he changed and grew out of it and i believe that can happen in real life. People can change. So that's one reason I think people love fairy tales. Through adventurous surreal journeys, real life lessons are hidden.

There are certain things that you never forget. And i believe that fairy tales will stay with humanity as long as humanity exists because they are so loved and cherished. All fairy tales no matter how infamous hold one thing, hope. Fairy tales do not deny the existence of heartache and sorrow, but they do deny universal defeat.
